Corn and black bean salsa

Corn and black bean salsa ala Chef Boyfriend.

Part of burrito night, but the burrito itself just wasn't all that photogenic.

Hang in there, little dude.

The poor little Cilantro plant that I'm trying to nurse back to health.

Hang in there, little dude.

Update: It died. I'm a bad nurse :(

Gardening on the cheap

I started some seeds this evening — Tomatoes, a mix of bell peppers, hot peppers (mostly chilies, cherries and jalapeño), Basil and Cilantro. I mixed new seeds with some I had left over from two years ago. I've always suspected that the expiration date on seeds meant nothing. I mean, they're SEEDS, right? I'm sure google knows the answer to that, but since I've already done it, I'm more inclined to just wait and find out.

Gardening on the cheap

I had bought the little "greenhouse" several years ago. Egg cartons = free. Seeds + a small bag of organic seed starter soil = about $6. Fresh veggies to nom all summer = priceless.

Cupcake Tester

Mmm. This is a cupcake with cream cheese filling. So, here's the thing. Someone somewhere gets paid to taste test these things. Like, that's a real job in the real world that you can really get.

How I do that? Anyone?

Mama Ginger

I spent the day with my beautiful mother. We did a little minor shopping, had some dinner (and maybe knocked back a few cocktails) and overall had a lovely day. What did we forget to do? Take a single photograph of any of it. So we snapped this in the car as we were parting ways for the night. xoxoxo

Piles of Negatives!

While in Boston oh...say, three years ago, I shot about 20 rolls of film with one of my Holgas. I had the negatives developed and then... never scanned them. I'm not sure why. Lack of motivation, I suppose. I'm working through them now a few at a time. I don't remember most of what I photographed, so it's actually kind of exciting. Each one is a surprise!

Pictured: Giant box of negatives, completely unhelpful helper cat.

Decisions, decisions.

Beer labels are fascinating. There's just so many of them! And some of them are really interesting and well-designed! I'd love to put together a photo-book of all the beer labels in the world. Don't steal that idea, mmkay?

Karma Komba

I had a bit of discretionary cash, so I ordered a few bars of Karma Komba Solid Shampoo by LUSH. I've been without it for a few months, and until I ripped open the package and the smell hit my nose like a ton of gorgeously aromatic bricks, I hadn't realized how much I'd missed it. Even now, as I sit here frantically sniffing at the dry bar in between sentences, it's hard to resist rubbing it all over my head.

Karma Komba

I'd whacked all of my hair off before I started using solid shampoo bars, so I can't speak to how this would work for long hair, but it does an amazing job on my moderately oily and somewhat unruly mop. Plus, smells awesome, y'all.

+Bonus: Annnnd it reminds me of this song:

Lasagna!

I came home to two pans of fresh out-of-the-oven vegetable lasagna, courtesy of Chef Boyfriend. I was so anxious to start stuffing giant forkfuls into my face that I hastily snapped off a photo and didn't realize that ... it didn't really photograph well, but I assure you that it was friggin' delicious.

Lasagna!

Also, yes, my blog has turned into mostly photos of things I've eaten.

Don't care. Nyah.

My pizza is more metal than your pizza

Chef boyfriend took the night off and we ordered Domino's and polished off Season 4 of Dexter.

My pizza is more metal than your pizza.
Not pictured: Actual pizza. But cheesesticks are awesome.

I don't know if you've ordered a pizza from Domino's recently, and I'm in no way endorsing them, but this is the funniest thing I've seen all week.

ALSO GUYS I LEARNED HOW TO MAKE VIDEOS! Sort of.

Blackout!

Thank you, power outage, for reminding me how exceptionally dirty my hurricane lamp is.

Swinging from the Chandelier

This chandelier is my favorite thing about my house. It's going to be awfully difficult not to take it with me when we eventually move.

Update: At the suggestion of friends, I've decided that I am taking it with me.

Fiesta Mexico!

This was my weekend off, which means our bi-monthly trip to A! Real! Restaurant! We very rarely eat out, so it was a nice treat. We went to Fiesta Mexico. I started with some Amaretto Sours.

Boyfriend sampled some Mexican beers.

Boyfriend's big, delicious cauldron of Mexican goop. The dish I ordered was quite yummy, but not nearly as photogenic.

Mega Destroyer!

This is one of my besties, Mega Destroyer, also known as Scotty. We've known each other since 2nd grade. He's a wrestler, in case that wasn't immediately obvious.

Nintendo World

This is a souvenir water bottle that Boyfriend got from the grand opening of Nintendo World in New York in May 2005. He's finally agreed to let me recycle it, so I'm making him a photo to remember it by!

Awesome Valentine!

This is a really cool Valentine that my friend Jonah made for me. Jonah is 8 years old and he's a lot of fun to hang out with.

Yes, I realize that Valentine's Day was two weeks ago, but I waited awhile to post this so that Boyfriend didn't feel like his present was overshadowed by Jonah's awesome Valentine. It definitely was not because I forgot.
